After starting her family she decided she would like to have another career so she went in the Northern Lights College in Dawson Creek and began her Social Work journey. Her third year of studies at the Nicloa Valley Institute of Technology in Merritt focused on Social Work within a First Nations perspective. Judith relocated to Fort Nelson for family and employment reasons, and now works at R.L. Angus as the First Nations Youth program coordinator. Judiths father took up residence here in the late '60s.
Judith Desjarlais is from Cree, French, and German descent. Her parents came to Saskatchewan and then relocated to the Peace River area for employment purposes. She began her education in Pouce Coupé and was bussed into Dawson Creek for her high school years.

Working as a researcher on this project has provided the opportunity for Judith to meet many people who knew her father and shared stories of his life. Valuable connections and friendships have been made.
