Theresa Badine
-DreamCatcher Traditional Dance Group Coordinator
I am a member of the Fort Nelson First Nation, and one of my greatest loves is working with kids. I believe that culture is very important. Sometimes you have to go away to learn about culture. I was lucky enough to learn and experience from both inside and outside influences.
I learned how to dance by watching other dancers and through videos. For a year I worked towards bringing a group to life. In 1985 we had our first performance. Included in the group were two of my daughters.

We sewed our regalia and used designs shared from other people adding our own beadwork and jewellery. Now our group is 16 in total and we perform several times a year sharing our culture and learning from others.

Dawn Badine - Dancer
I am 17 years old and have recently graduated from Fort Nelson Secondary. I love dancing and have been doing it for four years. I would like to see more young people become involved in our culture. In the future I would like to be an elementary teacher.
To the youth: I hope that you are never afraid to express and share your culture. Try to be interactive with people, and always study and practice your culture.

Tara Badine - Dancer
I am 15 years old and have been dancing for 5 years. I learned a lot about dancing by observing others at Pow wows. In the future I would like to go to college and then on to University. One thing that I would like to say to the youth of the world is Dont let any one put you down. Believe in yourself.
