Remembrances of Lucy Capot-Blanc

Lucy Capot-Blanc recalled memories of two people in particular when she was interviewed for this project. They were Narcise Capot-Blanc Sr, her father-in-law, and John Michel, her Grandfather.

Narcisse Capot-Blanc Senior
Narcisse Capot-Blanc Senior an elder that once lived at the Old Fort was a medicine man. He was known for his singing and drumming at tea dances. Tea dances were held when Narcisse had a successful hunt. He would invite people to the tea dance for feasting and celebration. Thanks to Lucy Capot-Blanc Senior for the wonderful photograph of her father-in-law.

John Michel

This photograph was taken at Snake River in 1945. The cabin in the background is an example of a home at that time. John Michel was Lucy Capot-Blanc’s grandfather. He made his living hunting and trapping. The little girl in the background is Lucy herself.

* a picture of Lucy's mother, Marianne Michel, is also available.
